Social workers rock

width=370Social workers provide a lifeline for thousands of people every day. Despite the pressures of the job, they continue to give of themselves and put their clients’ needs first.

Their contribution is honoured every year on 20 March – International Social Work Day – when members of the profession are recognised for the role they play in developing a caring society and fighting poverty across the sector.

The 2018 Social Work Day message, developed by the United Nations office in Geneva, was Promoting Community and Environmental Sustainability. Social workers across the globe were expected to take this message into their communities, workplaces and to their governments to raise awareness of social work contributions and the need for further action.

Our staff took the opportunity to dress in yellow and navy in solidarity with their peers and joined together for a special conference at TARA on the day, where they pledged to uphold the values of the profession at all times.
