Giving our children a voice
Similar to a Student’s Representative Council, our Children’s Forum provides the opportunity for the children to have their say in the running of the Home and any issues that need to be addressed.
At the beginning of last year, ten children were elected to serve as leaders on the JCH Children’s Forum. They attended a leadership camp and received training in communication, advocacy and negotiation skills.
The Children’s Forum meets with management on a regular basis. They prepare an agenda of topics for discussion, which is presented by their chairman, and they have a secretary to take notes.
Not only has this proved to be a great communication tool between management and the kids, it also encourages and develops leadership and other skills.[ Posted 9 March 2019 ]
