In addition to those wonderful individuals who mentor some of our children, The Character Company has allocated two MENtors to work with our younger boys - teaching them values such as respect, kindness, self discipline and courage. These volunteers aim to negate the impact of absent fathers on our society and help change South Africa’s culture of violence and abuse.
The boys attend two camps during the year, where they are able to mix with other boys and enhance their social skills.
Thank you so much to The Character Company for this much needed intervention.
She’s Me is the mentorship programme for gilrs. Again, it is a camp-based programme, where girls have the opportunity to focus on issues such as peer pressure, self identity, healthy relationships, decision making and conflict resolution.
Two of the ten girls who attended from the Johannesburg Children’s Home were selected to represent She’s Me at the BWASA (Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa) Presidential Dialogue.
They met President Cyril Ramaphosa and discussed social issues and possible solutions to enpower women.[ Posted 4 March 2020 ]
