Making music and memories

width=474From an old, unused garage into a Music studio – thanks to funds raised through Servochem’s annual golf day!

Huge thanks to Servochem staff and clients who participated in their annual golf day ... collectively raising enough money for us to convert two old garages on our premises into spacious new areas for the children’s enjoyment.

One of the new spaces will be used as a group therapy room for smaller groups of children interested in drama, recreational and hobby interests.

The other is now a fully equipped music studio, with two pianos, a drum set, guitars and the children’s favourite ... traditional hide drums. Some of the equipment has been collected over time and it was so exciting to see it all in place for the first time.

A drumming circle has already been started, with many keen participants. In the very near future, we hope to be able to offer music lessons on a variety of instruments – and add another dimension to the children’s development here at Johannesburg Children’s Home.
