At the beginning of the year, it was clear that significant challenges lay ahead. Conflicts – both global and local – were top of mind, along with rising costs. Yet, the Johannesburg Children’s Home remained steadfast in its mission. Thanks to the unwavering support of our donors, partners, volunteers and dedicated staff, we continue to offer children more than just shelter. We provide stability, care, education and hope – creating opportunities for every child to thrive.
While government funding remains an important source of income, it now covers just 28% of our operating budget. The balance must be raised through the generosity of individuals, trusts, foundations, corporate partners and our own income-generating initiatives, including our successful annual Wine Auction.
Behind every success story is a team of passionate professionals committed to changing lives. From care workers, social workers, therapists and educators to our kitchen, maintenance, laundry, administration and support staff – every member of our team plays an essential role in creating a caring, stable environment where children feel safe, valued and supported.
