Looking back at the year behind us is like glancing in a rear-view mirror filled with memories of both heartache and hope. 2025 was deeply challenging for everyone. Especially the non-governmental sector – the first to feel the sting when disposable incomes shrink.
Families faced tightened budgets, soaring food prices, and relentless retrenchments. Amid this storm, the NGO sector strived courageously to safeguard not just jobs but, more importantly, to provide sanctuary and hope to society’s most vulnerable souls.
With heavy hearts, we witnessed several Child and Youth Care Centres and frail care homes forced to close their doors due to funding shortages. These closures left innocent children grappling with uncertainty – uprooted from familiar places and sometimes painfully separated from their siblings.
To each one of you who reached deep within your hearts and pockets – your kindness has been our lifeline. Your generosity has kept hope alive, enabling us to continue offering life-changing services. From the Johannesburg Children’s Home – thank you. You have shown that
even in the toughest times, compassion prevails.
Let us hold hands and hearts as we step into 2026, ready to continue this vital work for the children who need us most.
